In previous years, the process for evaluating our players included an ongoing assessment throughout the current season of play, followed by a few large "tryout" style evaluations held in March. We are happy to announce we will no longer be hosting these large-scale evaluations at the end of the season but will be moving to a new process of evaluation, starting in February of 2024. This new process will only be for our current U9 (2014) to U17 (2006) born players.
What hasn't changed?
The evaluation process will again include the ongoing assessment tool, in which GAC staff coaches have observed or led sessions and or games with players in the club throughout the 2024-2025 Fall Season.
What has changed?
In addition to this tool, we will be hosting an Evaluation Period throughout February where players may request to be evaluated at their desired level for the Spring and Fall 2024 Season - The request form is applicable to all current GAC players U11 (2012) - U17 (2006). All current U8-U10 Players are not required to fill out a form, as these evaluations will be included in our programming throughout February. Please note: this evaluation period will be used to evaluate players both currently playing at GAC, and is also open to players outside of the club.
The process to be evaluated will be as follows: All 2006-2012 Born players wishing to be evaluated at a Higher level than their current selected level of play must sign the
Evaluation Player form no later than February 7th, 2024 .
GAC Technical staff will compile the list of interested players for each age group, and players will either be assessed for further sessions in their current team, and or invited into training sessions throughout February with the team at their desired level of play for the following season. In the event we do not receive an interested player form, this will be taken as a notice of the player wishing to stay at their current level for the coming Spring and Fall 2024 season.
This evaluation process will be conducted with all Select teams in the club which are: U11-U18 Div.1/2 and U15-U18 Metro. All players currently playing in these streams will be evaluated, and the Status of all Players will be updated no later than February 28th. Players currently in our Div.3 Teams will only be evaluated by request, as noted above.
An example of a player wishing to be evaluated would be as follows :
i) U13 Division.3
ii) Player wishing to Play Division.2 would sign the interested player form for an evaluation,
iii) U13 Division.2 player not wishing to move levels would not fill out a form, and would be evaluated for placement on their current U13 Division.2 Team.
